New Jammies: A fruity and fun bedtime treat

Newjammies It's not easy making healthy fare seem fun to a kid addicted to chicken nuggets and mac 'n cheese. But it helps to make the carrots and peas of this world a little less scary! New Jammies is a line of adorable PJs with fun prints of all your child's not-so-favorite fruits and veggies. Founded by mom Nicole Weinberger, the company hopes to get children excited about eating better and makes its PJs ($27 - $35) for kids all the way from 0-3 months up to 6-years-old.

"We may call our children 'picky eaters,' when in fact we have been depriving their diets of all the wonderful flavors and pleasures of natural fruits and vegetables ... You only have one chance to give your child a healthy start and a healthy planet, so let's start today -- together!! Eat right, sleep tight!" writes Weinberger on her site. The PJs are made of organic cotton and each set comes with a little book called Counting My Fruits and Veggies about "silly oranges that smile and giggle" and "yellow bananas that love to wobble." Just reassure your little one that no members of the produce family are hiding under the bed.

Cozywedge: Cozy up to this bumper alternative

HomephtotsI was worried about using a traditional padded bumper in my new baby's crib due to the risk of SIDS, but I found a great alternative in the CozyWedge ($59.99) from Inspired Ideas. Invented by Margaret Pressler, a mom of three, it's a firm wedge-shaped bumper that won't form a pocket around a baby's nose and mouth, making it a safer choice than a padded bumper.  It consists, basically, of firm foam wedges that you insert into a fabric slipcover which comes available in either 100% organic cotton solid or 100% cotton print.  It is then securely tied to the crib's rails and used as a crib bumper; It fits snugly and won't slip down between the rails.

The company just sent Tori Spelling one for her daughter's arrival next month.

Reviews Roundup: Two Great Travel Items

We just took our daughter on her first weekend away for Thanksgiving and I brought along two things that made the weekend much more enjoyable:

SwingThe first was the Boppy Rock In Comfort Travel Swing. I own the Fisher Price Pappasan swing and the Rainforest swing and I must say, I think I love this more than both of those combined. First of all, it takes up barely any room. It has a two position recline and a very comfortable head pillow that can be removed as baby grows. It really cradles the baby so it's very soothing. It also plays 5 different melodies that are actually nice to listen to, not that typical annoying garbled noise. There are 6 different speeds, which can be set up on a timer or you can keep it moving continuously. It folds up nice and easy and doesn't take up too much room. It also has a lock so it can just be used as a regular seat. We are going away again in 2 weeks and have already decided we are going to FedEx the swing (along with some other items) ahead of time because we loved it so much. I honestly wish I just bought this and didn't have the two other bulky swings that take up tons of room in my house.

TubNot sure how you felt, but I was scared out of my mind giving baths to my daughter for many weeks. 11 weeks later I am finally getting used to it, but I don't think I was using the right tub. For our trip, I ordered the Summer Infant Mothers Touch Deluxe Baby Bather (that's a mouthful!) I loved it so much I am getting rid of my other infant bath tub (the hammock one that everyone said was SO great - I didn't agree). Not only does this fold up easily and incredibly light weight, but it dries fast and has a two position back rest. It also is nice and wide and is a little higher on the sides so baby doesn't fall out. I used this in a sink on our trip but I am planning on getting an inflatable tub to put it in until I can use the main tub when our daughter gets bigger. Love, love, love it!

Moncalin: Unique and cuddly animals and blankets

Classic_cat For those who prefer a stuffed animal that is neither a licensed character nor found in every mass retailer in town, Moncalin presents an adorable option.  French for "my cuddle," Moncalin's plush pigs, cats, blankets and star shaped blankees are super soft and cuddly, handsewn, and made without beads or plastic parts.  Details are embroidered so they are safe for infants.  Plus they're machine washable.

Blue_chocolat Their two collections each include stuffed cats and pigs, double-sided blankets and blankees.  The Classic Collection combines butter yellow, candy pink, or pistachio with contrasting striped features.  The Chocolate Collection combines chocolate brown, pink, blue or pistachio with contrasting details, and are accented with a heart.  Everything is meticulously designed with children in mind.  The fabrics are extremely soft and cuddly that you can't help but rub it on your face. The blankees are star-shaped so babies have many different edges to chew on or play with.  Similarly, the blankets are knotted on the corners so children can play with and grab them.

Star_blanket Celeb fans of Moncalin plush animals and blankets include Gwyneth Paltrow who wrote, "Oh my goodness, we are absolutely knocked out," Christian and Sibi Bale whose daughter was photographed in Us Weekly with their candy pink and melon blanket, Brooke Shields who wrote, "What a treat!" and Carnie Wilson who said, "Wow, I've never seen such an adorable pig!"  Dustin Hoffman requested a custom bee plush animal for his upcoming film, Mr. Magorium's Wonder EmporiumClick here for photos of celebs posing with their favorite Moncalin plush.

Feel good about your purchase of Moncalin because they donate 10% of Internet profits to Stitches From the Heart, a non-profit organization that sends handmade clothing, blankets, and love to premature babies all across the nation. Stitches From the Heart also has a senior program that helps seniors help others by donating yarn and supplies.
