Halle Berry's nursing loungewear from Larrivo

by Ciaran

Larrivo Add Halle Berry to the A-list list of celebrity fans of Larrivo nursing wear. The actress recently contacted the company to tell them how much she loves their comfortable tops and gowns. She specifically told the company, "Thank you for making breastfeeding as sexy as possible."

Other celebrity fans of the Larrivo line include Elisabeth Rohm, Constance Zimmer, Courteney Cox and Rachel Weisz, who said of the line,

I wore Larrivo all through my pregnancy and then after my son was born. The designs are fun and funky, and the clever snap tops are so practical for nursing. The tanks and dresses are indispensable, as are the stretchy pants.

Larrivo nursing garments offer serious comfort without sacrificing style. The high quality tops, pants and gowns are comfy enough to sleep in but also presentable as daywear. They are so easy to wear and their styling literally makes nursing in them a snap - just unsnap the hidden snap at the strap. Their camis and gowns are also extremely supportive, allowing even more well endowed nursing mamas to go braless.

I first discovered this line while pregnant and wrote about it in a Celebrity Baby Blog Bedrest Style  article. Larrivo made me feel fabulous while I was expecting and has been my absolute favorite to wear since having my baby. I'm with Halle on this one. If ever there is a time that a woman needs a well fitting and comfortable (and figure-forgiving) garment to feel beautiful in, it is in those first few months post partum when breasts are tender and your shape is changing. Check out all the many gorgeous fabric choices on the Larrivo site.

Bravado! Designs: Tanks for the mammaries!

Bravado Okay, it’s no surprise that a baby would love a nursing top -- it gives her easy access to the things she loves most. But it is a surprise when she really, truly loves the top. When I wear my gorgeous new Nursing Bra Tank ($45; shown at left) by Bravado! Designs I swear to you my 4-month-old daughter’s eyes light up.

And when you add up the facts, you really can’t blame her -- the new sunset splash color is brilliant and very 'this season,' the cut and design are ridiculously flattering (I really didn’t know I could look this good!), and the full bra inside -- not just a shelf bra -- supports and shapes like you wouldn’t believe. It would seem my wee girl knows a thing or two about function and fashion. She makes her mama proud.

BOOB Nursing Tops: Stylish nursing mamas rejoice!

Boob_cami

Even though I never thought it could be possible, my favorite nursing tops in the world just got even better.

The Boob Nursing line has been my breastfeeding uniform since I discovered it three years ago after the birth of my son.  With the recent birth of my daughter, I get to wear their beautiful shirts all over again and I couldn’t be more excited.  The fact that there are organic options in their Spring line (only three items now, but Boob plans to have 25% of the line organic by the Fall season) and that the rest of the jersey used is now certified OEKO-Tex Standard 100 (a guarantee that the clothes are completely free from toxins) just makes me even more giddy.

Reviews Roundup: Funny, comfortable maternity tees

Though I am not pregnant or even thinking about number two I still love finding great maternity t-shirts.  Here is a roundup of a few favorites I've ran across recently:

Belly Flirt
Brad
Just because you're not carrying a celebrity baby doesn't mean you can't con people into thinking you are! This great collection from Belly Flirt includes the tongue-in-cheek Brad's Baby tee. Well, a girl can dream, can't she?

These shirts are great because the soft cotton grows with your belly.  I can actually see these becoming a quick favorite because of the fit and because the fabric feels like the kind of t-shirt that you end up sleeping in long after it's wearable in public just because it's so comfortable.

Other favorites from the line include Sugar Mommy and I Used to be a Size O. Check out the full selection at bellyflirt.com.

Exclusively for CBB Reviews Readers: Enter code "Celebrity Babies" for 10% off entire purchase!

Jestations
Folicacid_whitepink_med The first time I laid eyes on these shirts from Jestations I had one reaction: how can I choose just one? Thankfully I don't have to but seriously, you won't be able  to walk away from this selection with just one t-shirt in hand.

I still have trouble deciding whether I love Dropping Folic Acid or You Touchy, I Bitey more. And I have a coworker in particular who right now would love to own the You're big too but I wasn't going to mention it shirt. But I seriously think that if I could truly, truly only purchase one, it would have to be the My Dad Still Thinks I'm a Virgin shirt, hands-down.

Whether you're the type who loves being pregnant or the kind who can't wait to be done with it, you'll love these shirts from Jestations.  Check out the full, fun selection at jestations.com.

Exclusively for CBB Reviews Readers: FREE SHIPPING on all orders when you enter momsrstars at check-out.

Bellies by Calista
Epidurals These shirts from Calista Clothiers' Bellies by Calista line are sure to strike a chord with urban preggies. The signature "epidurals anonymous" and "preggers in the city" shirts are available to be shipped. The other styles, like "week infinity," "nausea inc." and, my personal favorite, "abs of steel" must be pre-ordered on the site or by calling 410.926.438.

Check out the selection at www.belliesbycalista.com.

Georgie Tees
Base3 An oldie but goodie (I have mentioned this shirt three times already on the Celebrity Baby Blog), the Made it Past Third Base t-shirt from Georgie Tees is my favorite maternity shirt ever. It just makes me laugh hysterically every time I see it.

Other great ones from the line include Does this shirt make me look fat? and No longer childproof. Pregnant moms who need a little pick-me-up would really appreciate these shirts.

Check out the entire selection at www.georgietees.com.

coup d'etat Brooklyn: Live to change something

Ttb_blackgold Recently I saw a guy I work with wearing a t-shirt that said Teach the Babies and immediately knew that I had to have one. After getting a bit nosy with him I discovered that the t-shirt comes from coup d'etat, a design company based in Brooklyn. I quickly bought one for myself and another for Danielle and this quickly became my favorite shirt ever.

As a parent I love this shirt first and foremost because of the message that it sends. Actually, though I have a hunch that we're not their target audience, coup d'etat's message as a company in general should be widely supported by parents everywhere in my opinion.

Click continue reading to read about why I love coup d'etat so much and for an exclusive deal!

Nina and Tom: A shirt you'll want to wear 24.7.365!

Adults_247365_mom_02_front_375pxLong-time readers of this column will already know that I love nina and tom family fashion, an incredibly fun line of onesies, lap-ts and t-shirts for the entire family that are both incredibly soft and incredibly cute. Recently I discovered their new "24+7+365=Mom" t-shirt and knew that I had to have it. Like all nina and tom shirts, the mom shirt is designed and manually screen-printed by the husband and wife team. You can have it in your choice of white or black (I chose black, like always) and let the world know it -- you are a full-time mom first and foremost!

I love nina and tom's shirts for both me and my daughter because of the quality. These shirts can go in and out of the wash a thousand times and still look great. As an example, my daughter has been wearing her Love & Peace t-shirt for almost a year and the 100% cotton shirt still looks brand new. I also love nina and tom because they are an environmentally conscious company who donate garments and a percentage of profits to many national and international charities.

Get yourself (or your favorite mom) this great t-shirt here and check out the entire selection at  nina and tom family fashion.

Aimee Nursing Gowns: Va va voom!

GowncranberryDid you ever hear of a nursing nightgown that would instantly make you feel sexy? The ones I wore when my toddler was born two years ago had bunnies or chicks on them and were not anything that I remotely wanted to revisit. I also hated the large nursing flaps -- it looked like someone just cut really large circles out of it. Finally, I just gave up and slept in a tee shirt with the nursing bra underneath). I knew there were more glamorous nursing gowns out there, but being plus-sized, they wouldn't have fit.

This time around, with baby # 2, I was determined to find some nursing nightgowns that would be more attractive. I came across Aimee Nursing Gowns, and was thrilled to find out that they came in regular and plus sizes. Finally, I could ditch the cutesy animals and glam up!

Owner Aimee of Aimee Nursing Gowns was kind enough to send me one of her stunning nightgowns ($41.95) right before I gave birth recently. After washing it, it went straight into my suitcase. About 3 days postpartum, I put this nursing gown on in the hospital and wow, I felt like I was channeling Sofia Loren! It was also so comfortable to sleep in and all the nurses remarked on how darling it was.

Sizes run from small, up to 1XL. And the 1XL was large on me, even right after I had the baby. I loved the criss cross top and generous fit -- the empire waist did wonders to hid my postpartum tummy. The colors available are black, white, lavender, sky blue, pink and cranberry. In the plus sizes, white and cranberry are not available. You can even get a coordinating wrap robe in S/M, M/L or L/XL (in either lavender, pink or black). Find one at nursingowns.com.

Her Majestee Kids: My holiday t-shirt selection for 2007

Candycane Santa Around the holidays I always like to get a special everyday t-shirt for Catie to wear. If you remember, last year I got Nina and Tom’s Christmas Time shirt (and Danielle got their Chanukah shirt for Anya).  This year’s selection is the candy cane shirt from Her Majestee Kids, which, I have to say, is probably one of the cutest t-shirt lines I’ve seen in a long time.

Before I can even begin to describe the t-shirt I have to rave about the packaging.  The 2007 limited edition candy cane tee comes in a hand-embellished (with Swarovski crystals) holiday tin (pictured here to the right) that is absolutely adorable.  Seriously, the packaging alone makes this a truly great gift.

But back to the t-shirt.  You can choose from the one with or without Swarovski crystals (I chose it with). The long sleeved tee is of the softest cotton I've ever felt. As an added bonus, the super-cool signature flocked Majestic Lion logo appears on the back of the shirt.

Her Majestee Kids uses only the finest materials and eco-friendly inks that are water-based and therefore are harmless to both kids and the environment.  They are also undetectable to the touch and a super-durable print.

Her Majestee Kids tees have been gifted to Naomi Watts, Milla Jovovich, Tori Spelling, Marcia Cross, Christina Aguilera, Nicole Richie, Halle Berry, Jennifer Garner, Kelly Ripa, Kate Hudson, Courteney Cox Arquette and Gwyneth Paltrow.

The complete line includes tees for girls, boys, babies and ladies. Check out the full selection at the Her Majestee Kids website.

Petit Bateau: High quality and high comfort clothes for kids

Rachelweisz_0057_cbbPb2 If quality and comfort are the first two things you think of when you think of well-made children’s clothing then Petit Bateau is a line you need to look into.

Already well-known in Europe, Petit Bateau products are founded on quality and comfort. The brand is renowned for its superior soft knits as well as its heritage stripes, both thin and wide. The heritage stripe is the milleraies stripe or thousand stripes. It is a colored knit that can be boiled. They are thin horizontal stripes that Petit Bateau is recognized for.

I recently got my hands on the fall line and was amazed not only by how cute it was but also by how soft it was.  It’s most definitely the kind of thing you want to put on a newborn and I especially love the quality of the undergarments for my 2-year-old.

Nowadays you can find Petit Beateau in mom-sizes too! Though it has traditionally always been a children’s label, Petit Bateau has become a favorite among grown ups as well when some ten years ago, Karl Lagerfeld outfitted models with Petit Bateau children t-shirts under Chanel suits.

Suri_cruise_pb_2These days the line is becoming almost as famous as the people who wear it!

Suri Cruise and Katie Holmes (pictured) are both fans of Petit Bateau. Suri wore Petit Bateau for the now famous Vanity Fair photo shoot and is often photographed wearing the brand.  Even mom Katie has been seen sporting the iconic Petit Bateau mariniere!

Angieharmon268_cbb_2 Angie Harmon also loved the milleraies stripe tops her daughters, Finley Faith and Avery Grace wore for their photo shoot in the September issue of Cookie (pictured here).

Other celebrity a-listers that have been photographed wearing Petit Bateau include Rachel Weisz’s son Henry Chance (pictured), Apple and Moses Martin, James Wilke Broderick, Barron Trump, Kingston Rossdale, Violet Affleck and Eden and Savannah Mahoney (Marcia Cross’ girls).

This is definitely the kind of line you want to stock up on, even if just for onesies and undershirts.

Check out the website for a list of retailers and a full selection of the line: www.petit-bateau.com.

My Conservation Baby

414Have you heard of myconservationbaby.com?

Ellen McNeill and her husband Michael run this family business in North Carolina. Transplants from Tampa Florida, they became very ecologically aware when gas prices skyrocketed last year. The couple, in their 50's, started a website to promote NLG awareness (national, local and global awareness) at www.NRGawareness.org. They designed a line of clothing to support this and were then inspired to create a line of baby and toddler clothes, also spreading the message to conserve resources.

Ellen says on her website, "It’s our way to begin teaching conservation habits at an early age, even before kindergarten. Our research showed that conservation is a topic of conversation on Earth Day or Arbor Day, but not many more. We believe that’s really not enough for the conservation message to get through."

She goes on to say, "By wearing MyConservationBaby.com apparel your special baby or grandbaby can make a difference before he or she can talk or walk."

I checked out a few of Ellen's products. I instantly fell in love with her pink camo onesie set ($36). It came with a bib and hat, with the "Conserve" logo on it. Pictured above is the same set, but with the "Stop Global Warming" on it. It was adorable and great quality. We also checked out the matching mom and toddler "Stop Global Warming" tees. $24 for mom,  $20 for toddler. Also wonderful quality and graphics. They also have an organic line, which has several baby sets and a toddler tee.   How cute is this Red Ninja "Stop" gift set ($42)? They also offer the popular "Plastic, paper or me?" canvas grocery bag for $16.

Their baby onesies, toddler tees, adult tees and re-useable grocery bag were included in the celebrity gift bags that were gifted to Gloria Estefan, John Legend, James Ingram, Herbie Hancock, Nancy Wilson, James Moody and more at a Grammy Foundation event honoring Quincy Jones on

For the artsy mom
Icas_family_edited I rave about my thumbprint (ahem, toeprint) necklace from Magic Dog Studio to everyone I know. I wear mine everyday and everyday I get asked where I got it. It doesn’t only call attention because of its beauty, but also because of how incredibly unique it is.  Moms of older kids might be interested in something from the Off the Fridge and Out of the Drawer series (pictured here). I know that I am patiently awaiting the day that my daughter can draw our family so that I can get one made. No mom I know would be disappointed with this gift but artsy moms especially would be blown away. If you don’t have time to get a print, get a gift certificate instead.

Read my full review of Magic Dog Studio here.

For the pregnant mom
Thirdbase_200x150 The Made it Past Third Base t-shirt from Georgie Tees is my favorite maternity shirt ever. It just makes me laugh hysterically every time I see it. Dear Johnnies: A new take on the hospital gown

Detail_elliefront_2Exclusive for CBB Readers: Receive 15% off when you enter code CBB in the special instructions box while placing your order.  (Please note that the discount will be credited back to you after payment on the initial order is processed.)

Update: Recently, when Tori Spelling opened up to U.S. Weekly about the birth of her son, Liam Aaron McDermott, she mentioned that though her diaper bag wasn't packed (Tori went into labor over two weeks before her due date), she made sure to grab her dearjohnnies nightgown prior to leaving for the hospital. Tori received a blue and white polka dot Ellie gown (pictured here) monogrammed with the initial "T."

Since we last wrote about dearjohnnies gowns, the company has been working on some great new projects.  First up is a line of matching bathrobes for the original collection.  Next, three new patterns that dearjohnnies founder, Rachel Zinny, describes as "a little funkier for those looking for something not pastel or traditional." Look for them to be available on the dearjohnnies website by the end of the month.

Rachel is also expecting her third child (and her third girl!) in a few weeks and was recently featured as a "Mom We Love" by Stork MagazineCheck her out in all her pregnant glory.  Congratulations Rachel and we hope to see you modeling your dearjohnnies gown in your hospital pictures!

Originally posted December 1, 2006: Here is a product that falls into the “wish I found it when I was pregnant” category. dearjohnnies is a line of whimsical, 100% cotton, comfortable, hospital gowns that can be worn during and after labor.

Aside from the obvious (they are super-cute), I think this is the most genius idea ever for so many reasons. For one, they actually snap down the back to cover your butt. Thank you! For another, they come with these great shoulder snaps to make breastfeeding easier. So, not only do you not have to undress yourself entirely every time you want baby to take your breast, you also look awesome while hubby is snapping those first pictures (okay, maybe you won’t look so great after labor but this will definitely help).  Then, after you move into your own room you can wear your dearjohnnies gown to receive visitors. It’s SO much more comfortable to be in a gown but so unfashionable to be wearing the hospital gown so this is a great solution.

Jennifer Garner received two gowns while pregnant with Violet and sent a personal note to dearjohnnies founder Rachel Zinny saying “what a great and creative idea.” Mariska Hartigay received the Ellie gown and wore it during son August’s birth. She said she was repeatedly complimented by the nurses and doctors on how cute it was and that it was a genius idea.

At Jayneoni’s Boom Boom Room last June celebrity moms Ming-Na, Joely Fisher, Nicole Ari Parker Kodjoe and Melissa Joan Hart picked up gowns for themselves and expecting friends (Joely picked one up for singer Nikka Costa and she wanted to pick one up for Mariska but she was informed that she already had one!). Veteran moms Lauralee Bell and Shar Jackson said they would definitely be ordering the dearjohnnies gowns for pregnant friends. Fred Savage and his wife, Jennifer Stone, picked up a gown – let’s hope Jennifer wore it during Oliver Philip's birth this past summer!

dearjohnnies gowns retail for $65 and can be ordered through their website. They can also be found at various specialty boutiques throughout the U.S.

For an additional $8 the gowns can be monogrammed. The gowns come in four patterns and two sizes (S/M and L/XL).

Tuni & G: Mommy & Me Clothing with a dose of cool

Pg5_dontyaset Mommy and Me clothing usually isn’t synonymous with hip but in the case of Tuni & G, Mommy and Me is actually stylish.

One of the cutest things I have seen in a long time is this toddler outfit blazoned with the phrase “Don’t ya wish your mommy was hot like mine?” across the front of the shirt and the words “Don’t ya?” across the booty of the yoga pants. My matching hoodie also says “Don’t ya?” The two times we have worn the clothing as a mom and daughter team Catie and I have been stopped over and over so that people can read our shirts.

Other cute phrases from the line include Boy Crazy (mom) and Crazy Boy (baby), My baby rolls (mom) and My mom rocks (baby) and It’s from my side (mom) and Cutie (baby) among others. The line also offers maternity, adult and infant clothing as well.

Felicity Huffman’s daughter was recently photographed wearing the “Don’t ya wish your mommy was hot like mine?” shirt! Trista and Ryan from The Bachelorette were gifted with this set shortly after announcing their much-anticipated pregnancy. The same set, along with a Coming Soon to a Delivery Room Near You maternity tank, was personally handed to Tori Spelling! Other celebrities who style their family in Tuni & G sets include Vanessa Laine Bryant (Kobe Bryant’s wife), Bill Bellamy’s wife, Kristen Baker, Jennie Garth, Melania Trump, Teri Hatcher and Joely Fischer

b.glam baby: Glam clothes for your glam tot

Ielmo_groupie_pant_set_front_small In our house we are big (I mean BIG) Elmo fans. Yes, this includes Mommy and Daddy too! So I was so happy to find this adorable Elmo Groupie outfit from b.glam baby.

I can’t even begin to explain how adorable this outfit is! The t-shirt has Elmo’s face and the words “Elmo Groupie” embroidered on the front. Then on the back are the “lyrics” to Elmo’s song (sing it with me: “La, La, La, La….”). The karate pants have Elmo’s face on one of the legs. It is seriously the most stylish and yet comfortable outfit my daughter owns, not to mention that she is the hit at daycare every time she wears it!

b.glam baby offers lots of outfits like these. The company decorates everything from bibs to t-shirts with themed phrases like Chicks Dig Me and Traffic Stopper with colorful crystals, dainty grosgrain ribbons and adorable appliqués.

Perhaps their most popular and famous onesie is the Vegas Baby one which was purchased from Los Angeles' famed Kitson Kids Boutique (a celebrity favorite shopping gaunt) for Sean Preston and given to Britney Spears at her shower. And the E! Entertainment special Hollywood Baby Boomers II featured Shanna Moakler bought the Vegas Baby and Daddy's Cupcake raglan shirts.

Items range from $13 at retail for bibs, burp cloths and caps to $70 for appliquéd blankets. The site also offers shirts for juniors and adults as well as diaper bags, chenille baby blankets and catchy doggy tees.

Click here for a list of retailers and check out the selection at bglambaby.com.

Cabana Life: Sun protective, stylish clothing

Terry_coverup The term “sun protective clothing” has always seemed a little redundant to me, so I was surprised to find to that a typical t-shirt is only the equivalent of SPF 5. Sure we can cover our kids in floppy hats and long-sleeved tees, but I think we can all agree that if there is something more protective out there then that’s what we want on our kids.

Cabana Life is a line of sylish, sun-protective clothing for children. Founded by Melissa Marks Papock – a young and savvy New York fashionista (and now a mom) who was diagnosed with the deadliest form of skin cancer, melanoma, at only 26 – the line of comfortable, 100% cotton styles provides a UV protection of 50+. Ranging from sporty graphic tees to playful ruffle skirts, the line epitomizes relaxed, beach club-chic playwear, perfectly suited for active boys and girls. I loved the terry hoodie. It’s nice to know that there are clothes out there that are not only cute but also protective. My neighbor who has a 4-year-old loves the Signature Beach Shirt which has a UV-reactive, color changing screen print (in this case, a crab) when exposed to the sun. Her little boy thinks it’s super cool that the crab changes color and she loves it because it tells her exactly when he’s had too much sun.

Cabana Life has already caught Hollywood’s eye. If the cute clothes don’t convince you, consider this: in the past 20 years there has been more than 100% increase in the cases of pediatric melanoma and just two or three blistering sunburns during childhood can double the risk of skin cancer. Think about that as you plan for your winter getaway this year.

You can buy Cabana Life clothes on their website or at these retailers.

Turtle Papers: Now with funky tees

Cat_tees Stylish stationery and hip baby clothing aren’t two things that mix well at first glance, but if you really think about it, it makes total sense. If we are going to have to write thank you cards for every piece of baby gear we get, why not do it in style?  Enter Turtle Papers, a sleek line of handmade stationery and modern, sophisticated invites and now super-cool baby onesies and tees.

A favorite of celebrity moms like Angelina Jolie and Gwen Stefani, Turtle Papers baby wear has some of the cutest graphics I have seen including adorable open-mouth hippos, an octopus and a sassy girly tee. Just like the stationery, what makes these tees stand out is the vibrant use of color. The graphics are hand-silkscreened onto 100% cotton American Apparel shirts and come as onesies, short-sleeved or long-sleeved tees. All tees are under $20. As an added bonus, the giraffe and the girly tee come in mommy sizes too!

Nina and Tom: Cute holiday tees

Kids_xmas We have sang praises for nina and tom family fashion in the past.  Now, just in time for the holidays, we have to write about nina and tom's adorable holiday tees!

Kids who celebrate Christmas can represent their holiday with an adorable design of old-school Christmas lights.  Those who celebrate Chanukah can wear a spinning dreidel.  Both shirts are super-cute and would make great gifts!

Not sure if it's quite t-shirt weather where you live? nina and tom also offer hand-pressed gift certificates perfect for those who can't pick amongst the more than twenty designs available on the site.

nina and tom's incredibly fun line of onesies, lap-ts and t-shirts for the entire family are owned by celebrity babies Apple and Moses Martin and Kingston Rossdale and focus on concepts that are fun, educational and send a positive message which, of course, is the most important thing to focus on during the busy holiday season.

T-shirts are under $20. Buy them at the nina and tom family fashion online shop.

Sweetness Products: Oh So Sweet

Josiesash_copy_1 I love products that are not only different but also versatile so I was happy to receive The Sweetness Sash in the mail. Part of the Sweetnessproducts line, The Sweetness Sash – a maternity sash based on age-old wisdom – is a new way for mothers to reconnect with ancient global tradition.

From traditional Africa to Russia, ancient Aztec and Mayan cultures to contemporary Mexico and Japan, the practice of belly-binding has been an integral pregnancy and post-partum practice for women throughout history and renowned for its celebratory and protective properties. The Sweetness Sash is based on the same idea with a more contemporary twist. Lined in hand-loomed marigold orange silk and embroidered with the six-petaled lotus symbol of the Sweetness chakra, the sash curves under the belly so it covers the contour band of maternity clothes and actually looks stylish.

The Sweetness Sash also has its post-partum uses. Traditionally the sash was used to support the belly after birth as well as to massage the internal organs back into place, flattening the belly and helping to ease the transition of the body after baby. The sash comes with a removable flaxseed and lavender insert which is calming aromatherapy for any new mom and is especially healing for moms who deliver via c-section.

Jennie Garth is a fan of The Sweetness Sash and said that it “feels great on my growing belly.” Josie Maran (pictured) owns two Sweetness Sashes and said that it was an “awesome way to celebrate and connect to my pregnancy and the history of women around the world.”

Sweetnessproducts also offers baby slings and other items through their website, sweetnessproducts.com.
