Odd Rods: Back, and better than ever

Oddrods Back in the  late 1960s and early 1970s, Odd Rods collectible trading cards were all the rage.  Mind you, my own two parents hadn't even met yet, let alone welcomed me -- but I can certainly see why these funny cartoon monsters tooling around in tricked out dragsters would have been popular.  So, apparently, could Bob 'B.K.' Taylor -- the original illustrator of the Odd Rods characters.  He recently re-launched Odd Rods and in this house, at least, they're all the rage again.  It's no wonder celeb parents like Scott Baio and Nicole Richie are fans.

We recently received several of Odd Rods t-shirts ($24) in their brand new toddler sizes, and they are right up our 4-year-old's alley.  He's a little young to appreciate the humor but he loves cars (hot rods especially!) and thanks to Yo Gabba Gabba, he's down with monsters, too.  A winning combination!  The tees come available in sizes 2T through 12Y, and run true to size. I love the vintage look of Odd Rods...and if you're a fan of old school cartoons like Mad Magazine and National Lampoon, you'll love them too.

Fierce Hugs: Artistic, organic baby tees

Fiercehugs_2 I love any kind of quirky design for my girl.  If I can help it, you’ll never see her in anything with an ice cream cone or a butterfly on it. So I was happy to find Fierce Hugs, a company started by two girlfriends carrying tees and onesies ($24) designed by some very original and talented international artists like Silvia Osella from Torino, Italy, and Dagmar Meinders from The Netherlands. A few stars were impressed at the Silver Spoon Hollywood Dog and Baby Buffet recently, too, where Fierce Hugs was a sponsor. Scott & Renee Baio, Tori Spelling, and Samantha Harris all picked up tees for their tots.

With seven cool designs ranging from a vintage car print to a jar of marmalade chasing a strawberry, the selection isn’t huge so far, but it’s quality over quantity here. Made from organic cotton using Fair Labor practices, the clothing is environmentally and socially conscious, too. I used to think the organic label wasn't worth the extra money, but it feels good to know my daughter is in something made without pesticides, and that she's trying just a little to make up for all those disposable diapers we go through. (I'm working on the cloth diaper thing -- I promise.) The tees hold up very, very well in the wash, too. And most of the designs work for both genders so it can be passed on to a younger sibling or a pal. Fierce indeed.

Simon Says: Where cool rules

Simonsays_2 You know that game your children play? The one where one child commands everyone else to copy a series of actions? Well, if they were playing it with you right now it would probably start something like this: Simon says… please start shopping for me at Simon Says! And then it would continue like this: Simon says… while you’re shopping, please make sure you get all the coolest clothing brands and, hey, maybe some cool accessories and toys, too. And normally, you’d be rather annoyed to hear your children speaking to you like this. But when they’re right and shopping online at Simon Says turns out to be as much fun for you as it is for them… well, you’ll probably forgive them.

Simon Says, a Toronto-based retail store, has launched a new website selling beautiful clothing, shoes, accessories, and toys for children ranging from newborns up to 10-years-old. They recently sent me a selection of their oh-so-fabulous merchandise and my kids have been hitting the town in it -- like little celebrity babies in their own right -- ever since.

Tea Collection: New styles for summer in-store now

Tank_dress With an emphasis on comfort and fun, Tea Collection recently unveiled its new line for summer 2008 and there's a little something for everyone.  Bright, bold colors and prints are as hot as ever and the Daily Tea Blossom Tank Dress -- in 'chili pepper' no less -- ($23; available in 3-6 months to 5 years; shown at left) is proof.  This adorable cotton frock is perfect for casual summer outings and, for a sundress, offers surprisingly good coverage in front and in back.  The kimono styling is totally in keeping with the Daily Tea philosophy of drawing inspiration from all the "little citizens of the world," and the dress combines a bold, large screened floral print with a smaller, more subdued floral print on the rib contrast trim and straps.  It's a great length, hitting right at the knee, and can be worn either alone or with Tea's matching bloomer shorts ($15, available in 3-6 months to 18-24 months).

Octopus_tee The Daily Tea Check Cargo Shorts ($17.50, available in 3-6 months to 5 years) are bound to make a statement at the playground.  The red and black check print is bold, the length is perfect, and the fully-encased elastic waist means that every square inch of these shorts -- made of super soft 100% cotton -- is 100% comfortable.  It pairs perfectly with this Daily Tea Octopus Tee ($19.50, available in 3-6 months to 5 years; shown at right).  Available in the color 'milk' it features a super cool, gigantic octopus in shades of gray and red, with gray ringer tee accents.  If octopi aren't your thing, try one of the other graphic tees featuring sea creatures, like the koi fish and the crab.  Buying one for baby?  Besides being incredibly soft against delicate skin, the tees are super easy to get on and off courtesy of three snaps at the collar.

BabyStyle: Break the mold, not the bank

Rockertee_25749_257661 So you probably knew that BabyStyle was the place to go if you were looking for a hot new diaper bag or a cutting-edge stroller, and you probably knew that it was a great place to find designer duds for both mom and baby.  But did you know that BabyStyle, itself, is responsible for some of the most adorably hip clothes on their site?  The Los Angeles-based  boutique is proud to count many of our favorite celebrity moms as loyal fans, including Halle Berry, Mariska Hargitay, Brooke Burke and Christina Aguilera.  Having sampled their new summer 2008 line, we've become big fans of the brand, ourselves.  The clothes are edgy and fun, well-made and durable -- all at a price you can afford.

Baby Sparewear: Saving you, and celebrity moms too

Babysparewear It happens to the best babies. The public blowout, the sudden spit up, the mashed potato mess. And though you try and prepare yourself for the inevitable, it's easy to get caught out without a change of clothes. Even veteran diaper bag packers such as myself have been known to dress their poor soiled babies in little more than a paper napkin and rush home for a change. For shame!  The problem I had in the past was not having a designated disaster preparedness kit like the one that Baby Sparewear so excellently puts together. Sure I have been known to toss an extra tee in the bag, but then my husband uses it and I forget to check when I head out on the next trip.  We all know this story has a baby wearing a paper napkin at the end, right? And do you like how I blamed my husband?

Birdlette: Tees that make you go 'ahhh'

Birdlette We've known about a new line of stylishly innovative baby and kid tees called Birdlette Tees for a while now but have been waiting for their website to launch! With suggestions from kids and friends, for example, "I want a snail eating a plate of spaghetti!" the designs on these tees are like one of those bizarre drawings your 3-year-old would demand from you. Bears taking showers, prairie dogs knitting, llamas in a polka dotted bathing suit playing with a beach ball; Any one of these tees is sure to make you and your little one giggle. Andrea put together some of the silliest, one-of-a-kind designs, and to say that she's creative is a bit of an understatement.

The name of the company was inspired by the owners' little 'birdlette' Ruby. They also have a line of paper items and custom design services.

Birdlette2 As designer Andrea Latvis said,

When I couldn't find just the right everyday tees for Ruby (soooo much is over-adorned, so much is too 'tough-guy' not kid enough, so many colors limited what the tees can be worn with), I began to turn this into a tee line. I worked hard for a year to come up with my favorite designs and to hone the colors to be sophisticated, modern and savvy. My wish for the company is- authentically and humbly without cheesiness, that my designs continue to make people happy. It really makes me feel good when I hear they make kids smile or give adults a breath of 'ahhh'.

The guinea pigs chillin' at the bus stop would agree -- these tees fit the bill.

Ooh La La Mama: Fresh, funky and edgy photo-real tees

by Ciaran

Oohlalart661_2Jaime Pressly is just one of many celebrities who is in love with the fresh, funky and edgy tees from Ooh La La Mama. The actress just wrote a personal note to the company to tell them what a fan she was of the company's tees for her son Dezi James, one year old this month. This line has recently taken LA by storm, selling out in hip boutiques in LA and New York, as well as the Ooh La La Mama webstore.

Oohlalart66_2What makes these tees unique are the all-over photo-real designs and fabulous graphics. These are not your average baby tees. Ooh La La Mama tees and dresses rival mom and dad's clothing for hipness but what I love best about these clothes and their engaging graphics is that they are hip without being hurtful. Their designs walk the fine line between cool and cruel. In a world with so many adult clothes shrunk down to kids sizes, often with inappropriate and violent graphics, it is fabulous to see edgy kids tees done in a non violent way - just right for mini fashionistas. Also so right is how they are incredibly soft and comfy to wear. This makes them a favorite of the kids as well.

BabyWit.com: What the cool kids are wearing

Arf313i Looking for cool baby clothes, I googled something along those lines and came across an online store that I've been spreading the word about to everyone who will listen: babywit.com. Their motto, "You May Not Be Cool, But Your Baby Can Be," really says it all. From the political (they have tees and onesies that do everything from plug Obama to put down Bush, a.k.a. "President Poopyhead") to the best of pop culture (on a recent visit to Miami, my daughter was the hit of South Beach in a Steven Colbert onesie - see picture below!)

P1040778The company also sells organic lunch bags, dresses for toddlers in prints you'd only expect to find at some very funky Fashion Week shows (psychedelic kitties, floating hamburgers, or funny skulls), and some grown-up tees for moms. There's also a "baby clothes by artists" section with unique designs by amazing artists like Dana Dekuyper and Steven Weissman. Aside from a huge assortment -- I could spend hours on this site -- I was happy to find that the clothing is also very high quality and super soft. 'Cause what's the point of your kid being cool if he or she isn't comfy?

Mini Fine/Disney Couture Baby: The perfect tee for the mini me

Minifinegroverplanet Disney Couture Baby and Mini Fine take beloved characters, from Disney, Peanuts, Sesame Street and more, and make them trendy and cool on children's shirts. Each shirt in the line is equally cute and cuddly. My favorites are the ones that employ eco-conscious messages, like the Grover Save Our Planet (pictured) tee.

All of the tees are made of exceptionally soft cotton that looks, and feels, better and better with each wash. And my daughter ADORES these shirts. It's to the point where she squeals in delight, "Minnie Mouse" whenever I put one of our two Minnie Mouse shirts on her, and cries actual tears when they come off at night! Celebrity parents, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, Kelly Rutherford, Jaime Pressly, Heidi Klum and Seal, and Lauren Holly, are all rumored to have some of these fabulous tees in their children's closets,

For a great twist on a plain graphic tee, Disney Couture Baby and Mini Fine are your best bets. Disney Couture also makes great tees, truly beautiful jewelry and other accessories for Moms! You can find great selections of Mini Fine and Disney Couture Baby shirts at TuttiBella, Little Fashions Boutique and Shirts4Squirts.

Vera Plum: Where little ones go to get funk-da-fied!

Veraplumwordtomymom My little girl is a fashion force to be reckoned with, obviously this is my doing. So, on the odd day that she does rock a t-shirt and jeans it has to be a shirt with a statement! And that's why I really LOVE the Vera Plum line. The tees come with great and unique graphics on them and it doesn't stop there. This great line will also include products for Mom AND Dad and blankets and room decor items very soon. It's like a one-stop shop for stylish stuff for the whole family.

My fave tee in the line is "Word to my Mom". My daughter received tons of comments on this particular shirt and I love putting her in it. I also like the Skully Rock Tee for a little punk outfit attitude.

Mountain Aven Baby: Making babies hip, one appliqué at a time

Camper_tee OK, I admit it.  I'm obsessed with Etsy. Like, not mildly obsessed ... Like, laying-in-bed-at-night-wondering-what-new-and-insanely -cute-stuff-will-be-waiting-for-me-to-view-over-my-morning-coffee, obsessed. I have to say that among my all-time Etsy favorites thus far is Mountain Aven Baby. Designer Blair Stone's style must mesh perfectly with mine, because I find just about every single item for sale in her Etsy shop adorable and perfect for our two little boys.  We recently sampled a few of her appliquéd tees and -- suffice it to say -- Mountain Aven Baby didn't disappoint.

Wee Wee Wear: Cute (and cool!) onesies and tees

DriverchocoThere’s nothing I can’t stand more than those cheesy baby-wear sayings like “Daddy’s Girl” and “Princess.” So I was thrilled when I found some statements that made me smile rather than roll my eyes in Wee Wee Wear’s products. Even their name cracks me up! Subtly accented with retro, whimsical designs like an ice cream cone (with “I scream for” written above it) and a cowboy and horse (“Hold your horses”), these cozy and well-crafted cotton tees and onesies, with sizes for infants and toddlers up to age 4, make my daughter look cool rather than corny. Other babies that you might see in Wee Wee Wear? Melissa Joan Hart’s son, Mason Walter Wilkerson and Nicole Richie’s daughter, Harlow Madden.

Rock & Rattle: For the littlest rockstar in your life

By CBB Guest Reviewer: Louise B.

Rockrattlemohawkhoodzie There are several reasons why I love the internet; I can connect with friends around the globe, find out information in an instant or simply discover new things. MySpace has been a great source for me to discover new music and stay connected with bands that don’t get a lot of mainstream coverage.

I recently had a song stuck in my head for a life changing event in my life; I ran my very first half marathon. That night, I searched for the band The Saint Alvia Cartel so I could add the song, Don’t Wanna Wait Forever, to my profile and add them to my "friends." Normally, I don’t get bands sending me messages but this time I did. Greg Taylor, one of the singers and guitar player/producer noticed I have two boys and invited me to check out his clothing line for children. And this is where I discovered Rock & Rattle, a very hip, not too harsh, rock and roll clothing line for babies and toddlers.

Tiny Revolutionary "Bris" Tees: Getting snipped should count for something

bris tee.gif One of the things that Jewish mommies have to look forward to when they have sons, is a Bris. What is a Bris you ask? It's a party for the baby and family, held on the eighth day of life, and it is also when the ritual of circumcision is performed. Usually by a trained professional called a Mohel, who may or may not also be an MD. Our Mohel is a MD -- he's also known for attending to both Jewish and non-Jewish celeb babies but I don't think he's giving me that scoop!

Even for the initiated it can feel very strange to plan a party that includes both a medical procedure and deli platters. I think the closest thing I have heard of in our modern culture involves grown women and botox (and perhaps less pastrami). But I digress ... Understandably, planning your son's Bris can be a little traumatic, for all of you. You're a new mom, he's a new human. Your husband may decide he is experiencing primal memories of his own Bris and develop a case of melodramatic PTSD. It's a good time for a little glass of wine (take it easy if you are breastfeeding please!) and a full dose of a sense of humor.

Enter adorable tees from Tiny Revolutionary. Consider it baby's first memento tee for his earliest performance as a rock star. Printed on the worlds softest burnout tees (like your favorite vintage tee), they simply say "I Survived the Bris!" ($22). If you have such a joyous and nerve-wrenching event to attend in the near future, this is a gift that is sure to be extremely well received by all. I'm just waiting for the parent size version because really, people, milktee.gifI'm already thinking that I have nothing to wear to this party!  Tiny Revolutionary also makes a cute, humorous "My Mommy's Milk is Kosher" tee ($22). The gals at the JCC are gonna kvell.

Exclusively for Celebrity Baby Blog Readers: Enter coupon code "MAZEL" to save 15% on your order.

Ciaran's Note: I realize many parents have strong feelings about whether or not to circumcise. I respect the choices of others to refrain, and respectfully request no comments about our family's traditions and decisions here. But feel free to comment on the tees!

Mommy's Little Monkey: Breastfeeder in training!

Notetonurset One of the most disappointing moments of my life was in the hospital after giving birth to my daughter when I realized that, despite telling the nurses several thousand times that my daughter was a breastfed baby, they gave her a bottle in the nursery during the few hours that we were forced to be separated. I wish that I had found this set from Mommy's Little Monkey, which not only acts like a note to the nurses, but is also super clever and cute.

The 100% cotton onesie reads:

To My Wonderful Nurse,
I'm learning how to breastfeed. Please no bottles or pacifiers while I'm in your care. Mommy is waiting for my return to feed me.
(heart),
Baby.

Such a simple concept yet so brilliant! The matching beanie reads Breastfeeder in Training. I love it and have already recommended it to several pregnant friends.

I also love recommending Mommy's Little Monkey in general because they are self-described enthused advocates of breastfeeding which I always like to support! Also from the company are nursing curtains (cover ups) in the original and simple and sweet designs. And, they also have a complete line of onesies and other "threads" available for your little monkey.

Exclusively for CBB Reviews readers: FREE SHIPPING for purchases over $60 through March 15, 2008! Discount will be taken after checkout. Check out the full selection at www.mommyslittlemonkey.com.

Appaman: New spring line includes track suits

Tracksuit_rb_co_model We have been huge fans of Appaman clothing in our house for a long time now. When the line first came out we didn't even have a kid yet but we purchased Appaman onesies for our godson and friend's kids. By the time our daughter Catie was born, the line had expanded to include a girl's line which we quickly fell in love with.

Made famous when Maddox Jolie-Pitt sported their Bulldog Tee, Appaman has long been a favorite of celebrity parents including David & Victoria Beckham, Kate Hudson, Mariska Hargitay, David Arquette & Courteney Cox-Arquette, Chris Martin & Gwyneth Paltrow, Ed Burns & Christy Turlington Burns, Michelle Williams, Patrick Dempsey, Sheryl Crow and Liv Tyler. The line, which began with onesies, has expanded over time into a full collection and celebrity babies are often seen sporting pieces of the line.

This spring the line has expanded even further to include the sporty track suit. Available in four colors, including citrus orange, sage, royal blue and mulberry, these awesome sets pay homage to the final days of The Sopranos. The new collection has a strong focus on vibrant colors and themes that reflect designer Harald Husum's inspirations from a recent racing school to his love for Coney Island and American popular culture. Favorites include the Coney Island Halter Top Dress and the signature polos.

As someone whose child wears this clothing regularly, I can attest to the quality. Despite multiple (and I mean that literally) washings, this clothing has stood the test of time (and toddlerhood). My daughter has actually worn some of the shirts and dresses for over a year now and they still hold up like new.

Nina and Tom: A shirt you'll want to wear 24.7.365!

Adults_247365_mom_02_front_375pxLong-time readers of this column will already know that I love nina and tom family fashion, an incredibly fun line of onesies, lap-ts and t-shirts for the entire family that are both incredibly soft and incredibly cute. Recently I discovered their new "24+7+365=Mom" t-shirt and knew that I had to have it. Like all nina and tom shirts, the mom shirt is designed and manually screen-printed by the husband and wife team. You can have it in your choice of white or black (I chose black, like always) and let the world know it -- you are a full-time mom first and foremost!

I love nina and tom's shirts for both me and my daughter because of the quality. These shirts can go in and out of the wash a thousand times and still look great. As an example, my daughter has been wearing her Love & Peace t-shirt for almost a year and the 100% cotton shirt still looks brand new. I also love nina and tom because they are an environmentally conscious company who donate garments and a percentage of profits to many national and international charities.

Get yourself (or your favorite mom) this great t-shirt here and check out the entire selection at  nina and tom family fashion.

Reviews Roundup: My favorite t-shirts of the season

Every season I like to do a roundup of some cute tees that I have received or seen around. Here is the Winter 2008 edition:

Wordsies: For the germ-concious family
200709_got_clean_hands1
When you have your first baby one of the most surprising things to learn is that stinky people are not only willing to hold your baby but they are also very eager to. Who would have ever thought that you would have to ask someone to please not kiss your infant on the lips or to please not smoke around your baby? That's why I love these fun tees from Wordsies Wear that do all the talking for you.

Germ-conscious parents will love these onesies and t-shirts that range in sizes from 3 months to 24 months. Moms will also love the mommy wear which includes a shirt that says "My Baby, My Rules" and which I think every new mom should own.

Check out the full selection at wordsies.com.

Exclusive for CBB Reviews Readers: Get 10% off your purchase by entering the code Germs at checkout.

787 Baby: For the fun and funny family
P10_3_2
Cheeky parents will love the fun onesies from 787 Baby. With slogans like My Daddy Does my Hair (perfect for the bald baby), Lock Up Your Daughters and I Like to Hit the Bottle, these are not the kinds of shirts you'd find in your everyday mall store.

Hand-screened by moms with the utmost care, the 100% cotton Bella onesies are offered in white but mostly come in varied colors (which I happen to love, like yellow, brown and berry). All 787 Baby onesies arrive wrapped in green tissue and are hand-tied with a black and white polka dot ribbon. If you have a gift-message, the owners will hand-write it for you at no additional cost.

But most parents, I think, will find that they love the cost of these tees the most. Keeping in mind that babies grow quickly (not to mention that they're kind of messy too), 787 Baby offers the lowest possible prices for their tees. In fact, their prices are so low that if they even offered a further discount to our readers they'd lose money. However, be sure to check out the Onesie of the Month special to score a onesie for $10!

Check out the full, fun selection at 787Baby.com.

Tough Girl Charm: For the family of a tough girly-girl
TgcParents of girly-girls who have a little biker edge to them will love these tees from Tough Girl Charm (TGC). The mix of sweet print, prettily adorned with crystals, crosses and gothic calligraphy is enough to let everyone know that your girl rides a Harley (or will someday)!

The all-girl owned and run company is fairly new but word is already getting out about these great shirts. Stylebakery.com recently featured the TGC as one of their designers on the rise.

Check out the high-quality tees for yourself at toughgirlcharm.com.

Exclusively for CBB Reviews Readers: 15% off using code CBBTEES! (Reimbursement through paypal. Expires March 1, 2008)

Stylized Pea: For the stylish hipster family
Img_cat_babies If you are the type of parent who is looking for something far from the typical sea of pastels, ducks flowers and bunnies that graze ordinary infant clothing then Stylized Pea is the t-shirt line for you.

Making the ideal baby shower gift, the unisex designs like Little Sparkplug and Trike all come packaged in a frosted pillow box. The shirts are truly eye-catching (specifically because of the colors -- they use a lot of bold oranges and greens).

Tees come as onesies, raglans and thermals and the bold graphics are patched onto them. Shirts can be customized as well.

Check out the hip selection at www.stylizedpea.com.

Exclusive for CBB Reviews Readers: FREE SHIPPING and 20% OFF using code MOMMY!

Milkman Shirts and Accesories: For the retro family
Milkman This Nashville-based apparel line, specializing in onesies and toddler tees, will become a quick favorite simply because of the way it's packaged: in old-school milk bottles (like the kind the milkman used to drop at your door). The Milkman Shirts and Accesories are therefore appropriately named.

With a wide array of great designs to choose from, each thread is pre-washed and pre-faded for a retro look and feel. It's no wonder that country music stars Josh Turner and Jason Aldean are fans of the line!

Check out the extensive selection at themilkmantees.com.

And three special shirts for the Earth-friendly family:

Little Green Star
Untitled Kids are so impressionable and we teach them so much on a daily basis, why not start to teach them about reducing their carbon footprint now while they are so likely to pick up green habits? Little Green Star t-shirts convey environmentally-friendly messages while at the same time being super cute (with Ladies Don't Litter being my favorite -- how adorable is that!).

At Little Green Star, their dream is to provide families with products that align with their sustainable values. This is apparent even in how they produce their shirts which are all made from 100% organic cotton in a sweat-shop free environment. The inks are also water-based so they do not have chemicals which can be harmful to the environment and, more importantly, your child.

Arabella Miller Limited
Alicedragonflyweb_large I absolutely love these t-shirts from Arabella Miller Limited which are some of the softest  that I've ever tried (and I've sampled a lot of kids tees, as you can imagine). What's more, I love every single one of their designs, which is really saying a lot!

The U.K.-based company is the first to produce kids t-shirts organically printed by a Soil Association certified printer. This basically guarantees that Arabella Miller Limited tees are organic from seed to final product.

The large selection of designs include the fire-breathing dragonfly (pictured here) among other mini-beasts, pet pals and a space theme.  Check out the entire selection at arabellamiller.com.

Exclusive for CBB Reviews Readers: Use code CELEBRITY for 10% off all purchases. FREE SHIPPING in the U.K. and  £7.00 for international shipping via International Signed For.

Peas on Earth
GalleryWith messages like Aspiring Humanitarian, Flower Hugger and Drive a Hybrid, no one will question what message you are trying to send your little one (or the one that your little one is trying to save the world). The Dream Green collection of t-shirts, for babies and toddlers, from Peas-On-Earth encourages your child to be the change he wishes to see in the world.

These tees also hand drawn, designed and silk-screened in a home-grown business. Look for the company to be adding 100% organic cotton tees to the collection in a couple of months.

Emily Allyn: You're never too young to learn about politics

LittledemocratLittlerepublican Today is Super Tuesday, and in the world of politics this means that at the end of the day we might have an idea of who will head up the Democrat and Republican parties as their candidate for president.

If you're anything like me, then this day is almost as important as the actual Election Day (I take politics VERY seriously). So when I saw Emily Allyn's adorable, civic-minded tees I had to smile. My little politico can now wear her, OK my, political affiliation with pride. Celebrate Super Tuesday in style and get one of these tees or onesies for your child. And here's to hoping your candidate comes up victorious! Spend over $20 and shipping is free!

Baby Fish Mouth: Pop culture meets popcorn-inspired tees

Babyfishmouthpackage I love cute and cheeky tees for my daughter and Baby Fish Mouth has some of the cutest I've ever seen. There's something about a quotable line from a movie being re-purposed for burps and coos that has me at hello! With the writers on strike in Hollywood, these tees might be the only creative writing to come out of LA for a while. Right now they only have four different movie line tees to choose from, but I have a feeling they're on their way to super-stardom soon.

BabyfishmouthbottleteeAll of Baby Fish Mouth's products  are made in the USA by American Apparel and are 100% rib cotton, combed for softness and comfort. The sizes run perfectly, my almost 2 year old, was comfy and well-fitted in a 2T, with a little room to grow. My favorite part of the line though is the twist on the classic movie quotes. They are, "I'm the king of the crib!", "I love the smell of baby powder in the morning", "This cry goes to eleven" and "He made me a bottle I couldn't refuse." If you're a little clueless about what movies the quotes come from, check out their site for the answers!

Tees come in sizes 3-6 months, 6-12 months, 12-18 months, 18-24 months and 2T and they cost $24. Hop over to bfmwear.com to get your child a shirt today.

Haute Boyz: Cool tees for haute boys

chocorocks.jpgYou know how tough the life of a preschooler can be - chillin' with all the other under fives, getting worked up over the the sandbox politics and long commute home from playdates.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any tougher, your mom runs out of fishie crackers. Which is precisely why, when it's time to unwind, this comfy thermal "Chocolate Milk on the Rocks" tee from Haute Boyz is guaranteed to restore everyone to good spirits and save the world from another meltdown moment.

I didn't have to go far to discover Haute Boyz. The adorable line was started by a neighbor of mine and over the last couple of years I have watched it grow and have collected as many of the adorable tees as I could get my hands on. They have just the right amount of attitude while still being cute. From the "Chicks Dig Me" digger tee to the surfer inspired "Chairman of the Board" and the "If I'm quiet you better find me" tees, every single design is a winner. I'm so thrilled that the company now sells their tees online, so I can share them with you all! Haute Boyz sells tees to fit infants on up to size six.

Abe jones: For your growing individual

AbejonesI recently came across abe jones, a great line of clothes. As the tag line on the website says, it is style “for your growing individual.” These clothes for boys or girls are individual, unique and gorgeous. They are also beautifully made. I love the boys’ yellow cowboy shirt and the pants are cool enough for any mini-hipster.

The girls clothes are so adorable, that they really do make me wish I had a girl, luckily I have a niece. I love the pleat tank dress  and the infant tank dress. They are beautiful and I’d probably wear them myself. They are girly in a way that even I, who am not usually very girl, can really appreciate. They're simple, stylish and absolutely gorgeous. And the colors are lovely. The T-shirts are really cool too. We have the “Hot Rod” (shown at left) for Grae and Finn is very jealous. I love the gray color and, of course, we all love the image. These are great for both boys and girls and come in sizes from 3 months to 6T. Very soft and comfy as well as super cool.

There are also some lovely ribbon tees for girls that are adorable- a small appliqué of fabric in the front and a ribbon that ties in the back. Finally the lounge sets are perfect for a lazy, wind down outfit. No reason why your baby can’t be stylish while lounging about, too. Grae loves his bedtime lounge set for wiggling around on the floor. Since it’s a nice stretchy cotton top and bottom, it works really well now that he has decided to skip crawling and at 6 months is working really hard at walking. These come in sizes for  6 –24 months.  He’s not really into lounging, he's too busy trying to be his 2 year old brother, but it works for him anyway.

The abe jones Spring/Summer 08 line is coming soon and I’m sure will be just as wonderful. It will be available for purchase online in March. Several items from the Fall/Winter collection on the abe jones  site are currently on sale. Please visit abejones.com for more information, as well as to find retailers that offer these beautiful clothes.  I have to say that these clothes are even better in person than in the pictures and they are beautiful in the pictures.

Especially for CBB readers: go to abejones.com to use coupon code celeb15 for 15% off of all purchases through February 11, 2008.

Lollipop Zen: Give peace a chance

Lollipopzen_2 I was voted "Most Likely to Speak Their Mind" in High School so it's no surprise that I'm always happy to put clothing on my child that makes a statement. Lollipop Zen makes a statement and more! Their shirts and onesies are made of the softest cotton and come with great, inspirational and thought-provoking statements on them. Lollipopzenworldpeace My favorite is the World Peace Definition tee (right, $32) or onesie ($32), it's such a cute graphic that rings of the innocence of childhood. I'm also a fan of the Buddha-Full Soul Circle Tee and Free Spirit Tank.

All their products are made of the best quality cotton and their tanks are made nice and light to allow for layering. Everything comes pre-washed and shrinkage-free. Lollipop Zen also makes matching Mommie tees, and even offer products for the Mom to Be!

As if a making a statement wasn't enough, these fab tees have been coveted by some of Hollywood's elite. Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt has been snapped wearing the World Peace Burnout Tee, Pax's mom, Angelina Jolie is reportedly a fan of the line. Other celeb fans of the line include Sheryl Crow, Victoria Beckham and Gwen Stefani.

Lollipop Zen products are available on their website and prices range from $19-$39 for children's tees.

Update: Blirt Releases New Designs for Fall

Swatch2youthlong_beeStarting this holiday season, Blirt T-shirts will be available at Barneys in New York, Chicago and LA. You've heard me mention Blirt before - I'm a big fan. Click here to read my review from this summer.

Their marvelous shirts take on wordplay with graphics, designed by Japanese artist Kat Saito.  We love the clever designs and and the softness of the organic cotton. They wash well also (always a plus). My son wears his "fish out of water" shirt constantly and is now wearing one of their newest designs, "bee's knees" (pictured). Their first t-shirt line included graphics that interpreted classic figures of speech. Their second and current t-shirt line continues on that theme, "incorporating words themselves into bolder, more complex designs", according to Blirt. They will be expanding to pajamas soon also.

What I like best about this brand is that it is empowering to kids. According to Kathleen Tracy of Blirt, "The message to kids is clear: whether you are awkward (fish out of water), clumsy (bull in a china shop), silly (a real ham), or just plain loud (motormouth), Blirt celebrates your quirkiness and thinks you are the bee's knees."

If you can't wait to shop at Barneys for Blirt t-shirts, shop Blirtshirt.com now. As always, get free shipping!

Her Majestee Kids: My holiday t-shirt selection for 2007

Candycane Santa Around the holidays I always like to get a special everyday t-shirt for Catie to wear. If you remember, last year I got Nina and Tom’s Christmas Time shirt (and Danielle got their Chanukah shirt for Anya).  This year’s selection is the candy cane shirt from Her Majestee Kids, which, I have to say, is probably one of the cutest t-shirt lines I’ve seen in a long time.

Before I can even begin to describe the t-shirt I have to rave about the packaging.  The 2007 limited edition candy cane tee comes in a hand-embellished (with Swarovski crystals) holiday tin (pictured here to the right) that is absolutely adorable.  Seriously, the packaging alone makes this a truly great gift.

But back to the t-shirt.  You can choose from the one with or without Swarovski crystals (I chose it with). The long sleeved tee is of the softest cotton I've ever felt. As an added bonus, the super-cool signature flocked Majestic Lion logo appears on the back of the shirt.

Her Majestee Kids uses only the finest materials and eco-friendly inks that are water-based and therefore are harmless to both kids and the environment.  They are also undetectable to the touch and a super-durable print.

Her Majestee Kids tees have been gifted to Naomi Watts, Milla Jovovich, Tori Spelling, Marcia Cross, Christina Aguilera, Nicole Richie, Halle Berry, Jennifer Garner, Kelly Ripa, Kate Hudson, Courteney Cox Arquette and Gwyneth Paltrow.

The complete line includes tees for girls, boys, babies and ladies. Check out the full selection at the Her Majestee Kids website.

Free shipping on orders over $75, no coupon needed.

Little Marmara T-Shirts: Exotic Threads

Yhst64979337724467_1968_675352One thing you will notice about Little Marmara's tees, they are stunningly beautiful. These organic Turkish cotton shirts have low impact dyes and is free of scratchy tags. Designed for owner Gabrielle Ackerman's son, both boys and girls will love these gender neutral tees.

The company was founded in 2005, soon after the birth of Ackerman's first son, and the product launch is coinciding with the arrival of her second child.  Little Marmara takes it name from the Marmara Sea, bordering Turkey (which my Turkish sister-in-law instantly recognized). This is a nod to the Turkish heritage of her children. "Each item draws its designs form the rich cultural, historical, and artistic motifs of the Ottoman Empire," according to the company's press information.

We checked out two of these tees. Ben wore the super cute green Deve Kervani (Camel Caravan), which retails for $28.  My 2 year old neice wore the vibrant purple Alsan (Lion).  The last shirt in the line is cream colored Leylek (Stork).  Sizes for all tees run from 6-12 months up to 4T. The pictures on the website do not honestly do the shirts justice, they are much more intense and the designs are something to be seen!  I can't wait to see what Ackerman adds in the future. Maybe some darling matching pants with the graphic?

Besides these cute tees, you can also get a coordinating pillows and pillow bags for $25. Their gift sets consist of a tee, pillow and pillow bag.
