Baby Sparewear: Saving you, and celebrity moms too

Babysparewear It happens to the best babies. The public blowout, the sudden spit up, the mashed potato mess. And though you try and prepare yourself for the inevitable, it's easy to get caught out without a change of clothes. Even veteran diaper bag packers such as myself have been known to dress their poor soiled babies in little more than a paper napkin and rush home for a change. For shame!  The problem I had in the past was not having a designated disaster preparedness kit like the one that Baby Sparewear so excellently puts together. Sure I have been known to toss an extra tee in the bag, but then my husband uses it and I forget to check when I head out on the next trip.  We all know this story has a baby wearing a paper napkin at the end, right? And do you like how I blamed my husband?

Four Peas: Now with messenger and lunch bags!

RockermessbagLast Spring I wrote about how much I love the backpacks from Four Peas.  The two toddler backpacks we own have been with us back and forth from grandma's house everyday and through two European vacations and still look great. I recommend these backpacks to everyone and am already planning on getting a school book sized one for when pre-school starts. Now Four Peas has come out with a great line of  messenger and lunch bags.

The messenger bags are kid-friendly in many ways but even parents and older children will love them. The bags are 14x12 and can expand up to five inches when full (though they are two inches deep when flat) so you can actually get good use out of them.  They also close with kid-friendly Velcro pieces and have four snaps on the strap so that they can be snapped onto the handlebars of a bike or onto a stroller.

Funkymonkeylunchbag_2_2 The lunch bags (my personal favorite) are a nice 7x7 square shape (big enough to fit Catie's straw cups) and have an interior mesh pocket to hold items securely.  The insulated bags also have a zipper closure around three sides of the bag to help you fill (and empty!) them easily.

Both the messenger and lunch bags come in the same great designs that you are used to seeing from Four Peas bags and you can actually buy them all as a set or individually...but really, just buy the set because what is cuter than a kid with a matching backpack and lunch bag?! These sets would actually make a really great holiday gift.

Four Peas: Activity and Backpacks

Polka_dot My daughter went through this stage when she was just short of a year where she would stuff all her toys in a little backpack and spend hours just emptying the bag and filling it back up again.  As a parent, this was a wonderful stage to live through because it meant we could take her to parties without any worries since we knew that if we sat her down with her book-bag in hand she'd have a blast!  As a result, I have a soft-spot for child-sized backpacks and the Four Peas Backpacks are, without a doubt, my favorites.

I love these backpacks so much that I actually own two of them. One of them (the Later Gater) goes to grandma's house everyday, and traveled to Europe with us last year, and it has stood the wear and tear of a year's use with zero problems. Our newest one (the Polka Dots) gets used on the weekends and now that Catie is old-enough to actually wear it on her back, it gets followed by lots of compliments.

The two backpacks we own are toddler sized but we will definitely be getting a school book sized one when the time comes. Not only are these packs sturdy but the prints are also adorable. I love the Girly Camo one!

Also totally brilliant and from the same company are the Kids Activity Packs. It was all I could do to keep it away from my daughter once she discovered there were dress-me-up stickers in there.  I am saving it for a rainy day -- namely our six hour flight to Europe this summer!  Filled with activities that kids can't resists (stickers, crayons, a doodle pad, toys, a deck of cards with instructions for a game and more) the Activity Pack is a MUST if you are planning a trip away with your child.

I highly recommend both these items. Check out the selection at www.fourpeasonline.com.
